150 x 200 cm
oil on canvas
original oil painting on canvas
created with "thinking big" as the basis
remembering there is a whole world/universe/cosmos out there and we are constantly in expansion
to inspire, to wonder, to soar
this is a more "earthy" work from a series about metaphysical realism; it is encompassing the terraced nature of our lives and experiences reflecting in the natural world; and how we are often moving from one space to another or even sustained between two locations simultaneously.
The idea of "home" and a place to feel safe and protected even when turmoil reigns was the core feeling of this piece.
loosely based upon the children's book, "Where the Wild Things Are" and also an ode to all the rock stars within and among us. I think I love you.
There are many interpretations to how to look at this piece.
This piece is evocative of underwater divers and is based upon the inspiring story of Diana Nyad's swim across the Florida Straits. One is never too old and our best friends know exactly where to push our buttons to get us to our finish line.
